It’s no secret that we all need to make more of an effort when it comes to being energy efficient and sustainable. That’s true of our waste but also, most importantly, when it comes to the energy we use in the home. If we can all try and reduce the energy that we can consume, it may be possible to turn the tide of the ongoing climate crisis. One of the best ways of doing this is by installing renewable sources of energy in the home. Here, we take a look at three types of renewable energy that can be used to power your home.
1. Solar Energy
Solar energy is almost certainly the most well-known and popular type of renewable energy that can be used in the home. By fitting solar panels to your property, you can provide your home with the power you require. If you don’t have the funds to go the whole way just yet, you can have a solar oven installed which allows you to cook using the power of the sun.
2. Biomass Heating
Biomass boilers heat your home in the same way that traditional boilers heat your property, however, the fuel is renewable. Rather than using fossil fuels, these boilers use sustainable wood pellets to provide the heat. This ensures that the heat is provided sustainable and makes your home far more exo-friendly.
3. Tubular Skylights
This final style of ‘renewable energy’ isn’t a power source, but a way for you to utilise nature rather than fossil fuels and electricity. Tubular skylights are tunnels that come down from the roof of your home to provide light to a property. Using mirrors, they channel sunlight into areas of the property usually lit by electric lights. Of course, these cannot be used at night, but they can save you a significant amount on your bills and make your home far more energy-efficient once installed.
